This week Apple Trailers has released a new 20-minute featurette for Steven Spielberg’s film, Lincoln, which shows Spielberg and others discussing their motivations for getting the adaptation to the big screen, comments on set design, costumes and more!
Lincoln arrived in theaters in November 2012, and has since garnered much critical acclaim and earned 12 Oscar nominations. The film depicts President Abraham Lincoln over the course of a few months after his re-election when he tries to pass the 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution to abolish slavery before the Civil War’s end. Tony Kushner partially adapted the screenplay from the book, Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln, by Doris Kearns Goodwin, and Spielberg took the director’s chair.
Within this featurette (which can also be found in larger sizes on Apple Trailers), the cast and crew offer their insights into the making of Lincoln and how it took years to get the initial idea to the finished product. With appearances by Spielberg, Kushner, Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field, and many more, this behind-the-scenes look is a great way to hold you over while the film is still in theaters and until the Blu-ray comes out with all of the special features on making the film. Check out my review of the film here, and enjoy the 20-minute featurette below:
